When you first lay your eyes (and feet) on Armadillo & Co's range of exquisitely crafted rugs it's easy to see why it's a brand associated with style and luxury. What might not be so easy to see is the brand's dedication to ethical, environmental and social responsibilities.
Since 2007 Armadillo & Co has been combining aesthetics with ethics, producing beautifully high-quality rugs that are 100 percent handmade using ethically sourced, recycled materials and natural fibres. As well as this, the business donates $5 from every product purchased to the Armadillo & Co Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation established by Armadillo & Co founders Jodie Fried and Sally Pottharst. Established in 2017 with a mission to improve the lives of underprivileged communities, the charity has been offering assistance through the provision of education, health and community structures to disadvantaged areas.
Now, as we find ourselves shivering in the depths of winter, Armadillo & Co have released the latest additions to its Earth and Latitude collections, that will add warmth to the hearth of any home. Adding fresh new colours and plush fabrics to the already opulent range, these new offerings are inspired by aerial photography of the natural landscape.
A feature of the new designs is the use of 'jute', a fibre with unique variations in shading that, once hand-knotted and died, results in an incredible silk-like texture that makes each piece both individual and incredibly comfortable.
Featuring softs dusts, warm browns and inky carbon, the new colourways give rise to thoughts of warm, fireside hearths, making them perfect for winter styling. As well as the incredible range of colours on offer, the textural intrigue of Armadillo's rugs still remains. The 'Malawi' features a ribbed pile inspired by Africa's gently undulating plateaus, while the clever combination of fibre and technique mimics the hazy mirage of an oasis in 'Desert'.
With a focus firmly set on quality, beautiful aesthetics and social responsibilities, Armadillo and Co's rugs are pieces you can truly feel good about both inside and out. Not only will they warm your home this winter, they'll also warm your heart.
